Can you be authentic in 140 characters?
Social media enables us to choose what we want to promote about ourselves publicly. Our Facebook feeds show pictures where we look our best at events where we are clearly having a good time. While we are truthful, people don’t necessarily tell the whole truth on Facebook. We are selective about what we put up. The same thing can be said about Twitter or Instagram -- they only reflect a part of our reality.
Yet, news outlets can utilize social media to direct us to an article or op-ed. This, perhaps, is the news-related revolution of social media -- news is now instantaneous and immediately accessible.
